Concrete Blonde had a great string of records in the 80s and 90s (1990's Bloodletting is one of my favorite albums of the decade), but I have to say that this Leonard Cohen cover from the Pump Up The Volume soundtrack may be their finest moment.
Totally completely adamantly agree with this. This is one of my top 5 all time favorite covers without question. It rivals the likes of Cowboy Junkies' Sweet Jane, The Sundays' Wild Horses and The Bangles' Hazy Shade of Winter.

(Apparently I've also just discovered I prefer female lead singers covering songs initially performed by men.)
Delete"(Apparently I've also just discovered I prefer female lead singers covering songs initially performed by men.)" I'm the same way!
ReplyDeleteI, too, like this cover. Zac, I can't agree with you on The Sundays, but the other two covers are excellent.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes. I am clearly the same way too!
